Explore IPUMS USA Metadata
At this time, there is not API support for IPUMS USA metadata. While we hope to provide support in the future, it is possible to use the IPUMS USA website to gather all of the necessary information to make a request to the IPUMS API. This includes information such as sample IDs and variable mnemonics.
In particular, we’d like to draw your attention to the IPUMS USA sample IDs page. The variable mnemonics are displayed when viewing variables in the IPUMS USA extract building interface.
